The Perks of Negative Thinking

People generalize that negative thinking is bad. Find out what makes negative thinking also a positive attitude.

It has been said by influential people like parents and guidance counselors that you will get nowhere with negative thinking. The desirable habit or attitude for them and for the majority of the people all over the world is to think positive in life. Thinking positive can indeed boost your self-esteem and confidence. It is a fact that positive thinking can lead you to success in life since it motivates you to accomplish your goals one way or the other.

In positive thinking, you tend to block all possibilities of failure in all aspects of your work or goal. The upside of positive thinking is that you tend to achieve what you pursue. This is the strength of all persons, in the sense that each person has a resilient human spirit that drives him/her to ultimately achieve his/her goal with unbreakable persistence. But all good things in life cannot all be achieved.

There will always be room for mistakes and failures. That is why the downside of positive thinking is that there is a certain real circumstance where you cannot achieve your goal. Failing is a reality in life that you must face eventually. Being taught to be a positive thinker by all your mentors, you have little knowledge of how to deal with failure. In fact, you might have difficulty rising from failure if you are so used with positive thinking. This is where negative thinking shines through.

You might ask how negative thinking can be good for you. The answer is simple. Negative thinking empowers you to be strong in the face of failure. Thinking negatively in a way equips you with the strength to accept failure. Positive thinking gives contrast to this by making you so stubborn to always think of achieving your goal and win in every situation.

In positive thinking, you must always win no matter what. Unless you are a person of extreme divine providence in the sense that you don’t fail in everything that you do, you must consider the possibilities of failure. Unlike positive thinking, thinking negatively can make you withstand the emotional destabilization of failing in your goals.

People with a strong background in thinking negatively showed immense composure in the midst of failure. They rarely break down unlike people who are used to positive thinking. Think of negative thinking as your training to toughen you up in receiving the damages of failure. You will eventually need this training as you face all the challenges in life.

Of course don’t expose yourself to too much negativity. This is much too damaging for your well-being. Excessive negativity in everything that you do can prevent you from actually achieving anything. Everything is well when in moderation. It is very advisable to balance negative and positive to a certain degree that it makes you productive in life and strong in life’s failures.

Remember that pessimism strengthens you in failure and optimism brings you away from failure and into success. Combine the two and you get an unbeatable combo in dealing with life’s challenges.
