Relax: Take Time to Smell the Roses
Gone are the days of dilly-dallying. In this age and time, people are always on the go. They are always in a hurry that there is practically no more time to laze around or to relax.
There is no more time to be awe-struck at the splendour of the sun as it rises, nor is there any time left to appreciate its magnificence as it sets. There is not any more time to smell the roses or even simply admire the beautiful landscape. Time flies so fast people just have to adjust to the whirl of things; else, they will get lost in the process.
In this particular age of modern technology, people cannot afford to wait. It seems that everything can be possibly done instantly. Patience is a virtue that is easily lost. Notice the emergence of instant breakfast meals, instant noodles and instant drinks? There is no more need for long and tedious preparations. These instant breakfast meals, instant noodles, and instant drinks usually come in microwaveable containers and all one has to do is simply turn the microwave on, and he can already fill his stomach within minutes. Instant noodles, too, simply require boiling water to make them ready to eat. Such have been developed especially for people who are always on the rush and do not have the time in the world to prepare these things. Unfortunately, often enough, these do not come without a price. True, they may suit a workaholic just fine, but instant meals contain additives and preservatives that are not very good to one’s health. Too much of these can cause hyperacidity, and quite possibly, indigestion.
People who are constantly rushing about are more likely to appear pressured and haggard. They may also look disoriented. They may be hyperactive and may seem energetic to others, but really, caffeine is the only thing that keeps them going. These people want to have the easy way out of things. They tend to disregard the importance of having a step-by-step approach on things. Sure, taking short-cuts may save one time and energy, but often the result is not refined nor is it error-free. They seldom, if ever, realize that there are so many benefits of going through a process inch by inch, little by little. One particular benefit of going through a certain thing or activity step by step is that one gets a more thorough evaluation of things. He gets to discover more things and he grows in the process.
It is a lot like love. Love does not develop in instantly. For love to last, lovers have to go through certain stages, such as courtship, intimacy, and marriage. Love does not happen at first sight. It grows and becomes more beautiful with every step. It is also the same thing with the growth and development of a human being. A fetus does not become a baby overnight. Every week or every month, he goes through a process of development until he becomes a complete baby.
So, don’t rush. Take time to smell the flowers.
There is always beauty in waiting.
