Weight Loss #6: …And Off We Go!
It's easy to get bored. Heck, we even buy stuff to spruce up our before-sleep routines! If you can think of ten ways to jazz up your evening tea, then sprucing up your routines should be easy.
Building up your stamina is a work in progress. If your main activity prior to your weight loss quest consisted mostly of walking around your living room, sitting in your office chair, and getting in and out of cars and cabs, then you’ve got to accept that it will take time before you’ll be ready for some hardcore activity. I’ve seen a lot of friends get interested in extreme sports only to become disappointed later on because they weren’t fit enough to engage in these activities. A dash of enthusiasm is all well and good, but be realistic as well. If you simply feel too heavy to be able to engage in the activities that are interesting to you, then it’s just going to have to be pushed farther in your plans.
After all, what you’re going for is the long term, and since this is a lifestyle change, waiting about three more months to try out these activities will be well worth it. As your body adapts to your diet, bit by bit, your physique will also adjust. There are so many things you can do in the meantime.
If high-impact activities are not your thing yet, there are several routines you can try. Bored with walking? Why not enroll in dance classes? Make it a lot more fun and get your girlfriends to sign up with you. Even though there’s always a lot of eye-rolling involved, it seems that women just can’t stop complaining of needing to lose a pound or two even if they are already fit. For this reason, you’ll be sure to be able to drag a girlfriend with you, even if she’s just maintaining her weight or she’s also on a weight loss quest just like you. If you’ve found the typical aerobics class not quite to your taste, you’ll be delighted in the roster of dance classes now available. From Latin dances to bellydancing to striptease and pole-dancing classes, you’ll be able to get a good workout and enjoy yourself. And who says you need to stick to one? Try ‘em all!
These activities are a good complement to those you’ve already started. By this time, even without consciously doing it, you’re walking more and more to short distances. Up it up a notch and do the household chores you’d normally delegate to someone else. Walk your dog. Do your own laundry. Sweep the floors. Do some gardening. Wash the windows! And before you argue that you don’t have the time to do these things, well, you certainly had the time to watch TV all day during weekends and stuff yourself with junk food, didn’t you? These activities are not just sources of good workouts, they are productive as well. Plus, you won’t be embarrassed about really sweating it out because you’ll be in the comfort of your own home.
Now, you'll see why it's so busy integrating a healthy lifestyle in your daily life.
